‘Love in Blood’ by Shunshun Qi

Love in Blood is an original work by Chinese contemporary artist Shunshun Qi, whose practice explores intimacy, tenderness, solitude and the complex boundaries between private and shared experience.

Born in China in 1998, Qi studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing and the Beaux-Arts de Nantes in France, before completing her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art, London, in 2022.

Her work examines human connection and the emotional tension between closeness and independence, exploring how intimacy is experienced, remembered and represented.

In Love in Blood, these recurring themes take on an intense and intimate character. The work reflects Qi’s interest in emotional vulnerability and human relationships, creating an image that feels both deeply personal and psychologically charged.

Qi’s work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally, including at MK Gallery, and represents an emerging contemporary practice shaped by her experience across China and Europe.
